Handbook & Agreement

The main goal of this childcare is to have fun, improve social skills and encourage creative expression. While in my care your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities, which promote all aspects of development. Free play, group activities, literature, arts and crafts, sensory play, science, computer, singing, dramatic play/pretend, puzzles and educational TV/videos are just some of the activities we will be doing. It is my goal to have a variety of toys and materials readily available to the children. Family child care provides for children the comfort and experience of belonging to an extended family. I provide a home like setting; therefore I do not follow a strict routine. My approach to childcare is child centered and child directed. We will utilize a variety of experiences each day. I provide the environment, the children are offered choices whenever possible. I focus on the process not the product. A lot of our learning is done with hands on things like our sensory table, magnets science, books, games dramatic play, etc… I will do my best to meet the physical and emotional needs of your child while in my care. Since children learn through play, I hope that with my encouragement, each child will learn and progress at his/her individual pace. Since my home is registered with the Anne Arundel Department of Social Services, it is periodically inspected by the Health and Fire Department. The size of enrollment is limited; so that each child will receive personal care and attention. Discipline will be discussed prior to starting this agreement. ** All necessary medical forms and contract must be signed and returned to me before I will assume the responsibility of caring for your child. ** I require a 2 week deposit be paid before your child starts in my daycare. I will hold this deposit with your contract. If no two-week notice is given at the end of the contract the money will pay for the two weeks that no notice was given. (Vacations and paid holidays do not count towards your two-week notice.). In the event your deposit holds your opening for more than 30-days there will be no refund. If there is a two-week notice, after your child has been in my care, then the deposit money will be used for the last two weeks and therefore there will be no additional charge to you. ** In cases of a deposit given to hold a position, if notice is given for more than 4 weeks prior to the starting date, the deposit will be refunded. If notice is given and the start date is less than 4 weeks away, no refund will be given. ** The first two weeks are a trial period. I regret any in-convenience, but for the child’s well being and the well being of the other children in my care, the trial period is necessary. After the trial period, if the need arises to terminate my services, a two-week notice will be given by either party. Termination notice will NOT be accepted while provider or parents are on vacation. I will terminate our child care arrangements immediately for any of the following reasons (but not solely limited to): • Failure to comply with the contract. • Destructive or hurtful behavior that persists, even with parents cooperation in stopping the behavior. • Non-Payment of childcare fees or late and/or recurring late payment of fees. • Failure to complete required forms. • Inability to meet the child's needs without additional staff. • If parent knowingly brings there child ill. ** My daycare home will be closed on the following paid holidays: January - New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day April - Good Friday & Easter Monday May - Memorial Day July - Independence Day Sept. - Labor Day Nov. - Thanksgiving and the Friday after Dec. - Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Dec. 26th *If the holiday falls on a Sunday I will be closed the following Monday. ** I receive 3 paid days per year for sick (if I am not sick these days will not be used) and 2 personal/ professional days. I receive 2 weeks paid vacation every year. You will receive advanced notice for any vacation. If you take off for a trip, vacation, or just a day off, I still charge for the day/week. ** Please give notice as far in advance as possible if your child will not be here on any given day. ** If I am not available due to illness, I will give you as much notice as possible. It is important to have back up daycare. ** In the event that your child is sick and will not be coming, you need to notify me as soon as possible. Payment is still required for sick days. I cannot care for sick children, therefore I request that you do not give Tylenol, Advil or Aspirin in the morning before coming to daycare to reduce symptoms. If your child has a fever in the middle of the night, they need to stay home that day. If you think they feel warm in the morning, please check their temperature before coming here. The State does not allow me to care for a child with a fever. The Health Department regulation prohibits the admittance of any child into a family childcare home that exhibits any of the following symptoms: - Temperature of 100*f or higher-child needs to be fever free for 24 hours without the aid of medication. - Child must have NO diarrhea, or vomiting- symptom free for 24 hours without the aid of medication. - Runny nose- with colored discharge. - Rash- check with doctor. - Discharge from eyes or ears- pink eye/conjunctivitis. Communicable Diseases- Chicken pox, measles, mumps, conjunctivitis (pink eye), influenza etc. the child may return when the incubation and contagious period is passed and the child is well enough to resume normal childcare activities. Medication- If your child is on antibiotic he/she continues to be contagious for 24 hours after the first dose of medication and can not return to childcare until this time period has passed. If your child develops a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea while in my care, a parent will be notified immediately to pick up the child, until parent arrives; the child will be placed in isolation. For any illness requiring medical attention, a doctor’s note will be required stating diagnosis and course of action before readmission. ** Child Care Regulations prohibit me from giving your child medication of any kind unless you have filled out and signed a Permission to Administer Medication Form. All medication must be in the original, labeled container. With complete instructions for that day, and every day the child is to take the medicine, to be kept with your child’s file. You MUST supply the medicine for your child; I cannot give any children medicine out of my medicine chest. ** If an emergency arises where the parent or an authorized person cannot be reached the daycare mother will use her best judgment in seeking medical aid for your child/ children ** If an emergency requires my absence, a substitute will be called to fill in until I can return. Advanced notice will be given if possible. ** I am fully certified in the nutritional food program, SIDS training, first aid and CPR every year. I have all first aid equipment on hand in case of an emergency. ** I will not allow a child to leave with anyone other than the parent unless prior written notification has been made. If someone comes to pick up your child that is not listed on the emergency card and you cannot be reached the child will remain in my care until you are reached and overtime charges/late fees apply. ** I do participate in the regulated "Food Program", and I will try to provide nutritional meals and snacks according to each child’s schedule. All baby food, formula, or breast milk must be provided and an adequate supply must be on hand at all times. ** You will need to furnish the following: a complete change of clothing (weather appropriate- gloves, hats, boots, swimsuit, etc…). Infants must have sufficient diapers and wipes also, training pants, pull-ups, underwear, and additional changes of clothes for toilet training children. Any special toys or blankets, toothpaste (if desired), sun-block, Desitin, etc… A sleeping bag or mat will be needed for naptime. I provide a wide variety of playthings. I ask that no toys be brought to daycare from home. Often times children have a hard time sharing the toys they bring from home. The only exception to this policy are, special blankets or stuff animals to be used during naptime. ** I provide child care from Monday to Friday during your contracted working hours or attending full time school only. Any changes to your schedule need to be discussed. If you will be delayed or there is any deviation in your schedule a phone call is REQUIRED so that we may make adjustments as well. If you are late without prior notice a late charge will apply. I have family obligations, and any pick-ups after my closing hours may affect my evening plans and commitments with my family. ). No deductions will be made for days missed, snow days, scheduled holidays, parents scheduled vacations or parents holidays, etc. A “school age child” rate will apply if your child is in my care the entire week during school closings, late openings, early dismissals or summers (this will be discussed prior to taking place). A returned check fee of $30.00 will apply for any returned checks. If your child care account remains unpaid or delinquent for any reason, be advised that it will be reported to ProviderWatch immediately. ProviderWatch is a credit-reporting agency that specializes in childcare accounts. Your delinquent account being reported will likely make it more difficult for you to find child care providers willing to accept your child. Parents will be liable for any and all collection costs. ** I furthermore give permission for Pamela Blades to transport my child for up to twenty miles of the daycare home without additional written permission. If the trip will be over twenty miles an additional permission slip will be required. ** An annual renewal of this contract is required, but this contract will remain in effect until said contract is signed and accepted or either party is terminated.
